Hello Ladies,
I have just finished the 3rd round of chemo on Abraxane. It is a clinical trial here in Canada which is awesome because I am monitored so closely and we have frequent checks to see how I am doing. I had my first set of scans in early January and the liver tumors have shrunk. There is more activity in the bones but I am relatively pain free, especially compared to the agony I was in throughout the summer and fall.
My hair pretty much fell out after my first round back at the end of November. What was left we shaved off. But my hair is growing back! It is very light coloured, hard to tell if it is gray or blonde at this point but I am glad to see hair! Not enough yet for me to go wig free but getting there.
My struggles with infections etc has improved and I feel fairly good most of the time. I am eating better and getting my vitamins and health support supplements which seem to be helping.
Hope everyone else is doing well too. Not long after I was dx'd, one of my co-workers who was also a BC survivor was dx'd with mets to the liver. So we are sharing support and chemo comparisons. She is on Taxol as she didn't qualify for the trial. Please remember her as she is struggling with her own health issues.
Love n hugs, Colleen

Colleen, I am so glad that you were able to be in this trial so that you can be monitored so closely and I'm very happy to hear that the liver tumors have shrunk.....I am happy to hear too that you're not having pain with the bone mets, they can be painful! Praying the Abraxane will get the bone mets under control too....have they said anything about rads for the bone mets? That's what I had. I still have pain in my left leg and hip but I'm dealing with it. I'll continue to lift you and now your co-worker too up in my prayers. Hugs, Sherrie

Yes Sherry rads for the bones was discussed. At the time the option was to do T7 which is the largest. However on the Abraxane trial, there can be no other treatments ongoing at the same time so I would have had to wait another 2 weeks to start. Since the Abraxane treats all the tumours I opted to try that first. If the Abraxane fails or doesn't do anything more for the bones I will be taken off of it and put on something else. Then we could do rads to the bones.
