Well... today is day number 10 after the chemo. The clinic will check my blood to see if the white counts are holding. I think they are because I had terrible bone pain. The doc said it sounded like my bone marrow was recovering. That is a pain your not soon likely to forget. FYI: I called the clinic last week to see if they had the cost for my first chemo..... oh they did....can you say $17,013.00 ? Needless to say, I fell off the chair and hit the floor. (just kidding) That is enough to take your breath away when this is a life saving thing.... kinda danged if ya do and danged if you don't. Lori

Seems like everything that has to do with "The Beast" is very painful..... Maybe the doctor can give you something for the pain...Hope your blood counts are holding...Let us know how you make out.
WOW $17K for chemo is astronomical. If we had to pay that all by ourselves, we couldn't afford to get better. Thank G-d for insurance.
Hugs, Ruth

Wow, that is a lot of $$! Thinking back to when we bought our first home, this $17K would have been more enough! Thank heavens for insurance!
I hope your white counts are stable and things continue to go well. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Hugs, Karen

Lori,
I am sorry you had such pain but from what you said, it is a good thing. I am glad.
Yes, the cost of health care is astronomical. My heart hurts for those who do not have insurance. I teach many of children who are not covered.

Weellllll..... the blood counts are in. Not good...the doc said I have neutropenia...my white count .12...should 5.0 or better. Now what do I do? Feel like I'm under house arrest so I don't end up with anything. So the doc's cure for the neutropenia is to put me on Augmentin for 10 days so I don't get sick. Amazing with all this medical info we have that this still happens. Ladies thank you for letting me vent. Just severely frustrated. Tomorrow is another day... abrand new one!!!! Lori

Darn, Lori. Please be careful. I don't know anything about neutropenia. I know you are frustrated and it must be terrible to be so confined. Just know that we are praying for you and we are here for you. You make me smile when you say "Tomorrow is another day... a brand new one!!!!" You are inspirational. Kitty

I'm sorry you bloods come back bad but is good news as it wiped out everything
my son Jamie had neutropenia for nearly 4 years so be very careful you don't knock self or someone even hitting a friendly hit as you blood can't clot right so end up with huge bruises Jamie fall at school and ended up with a bruise size of a football on his leg
be thinking of you love Alli

Lori, I know how frustrated you must be...I don't know anything about neutrophenia, but, I'm hoping some of our Nurses can give you some information about it.......It sounds like our Alli knows about it too from Jamie's experience..........
Please be careful not to bump into anything that would cause a serious bruise.
Please keep us up-to-date.
