I had my 10 day follow-up blood work drawn yesterday and it came back with low platelets. 86 instead of the 140-400 they should have been.
Not really sure what all that means - they want to see me back in a week to check again.
I'm praying that it isn't a big deal and doesn't delay treatment.

Jolene,
Sorry to hear about your low platelets. Try to get plenty of rest and eat "good stuff" for the next week.........Hopefully, they will be back to normal.
If they are not, they will probably give you a shot to build up your blood before they do any more chemo.....There are several different drugs that they can give you.....I think the one that they advertise on TV is Procriet (not sure of the spelling). Several of our ladies here have had the same problem....so, you should get some responses back from your questions.
Take care and rest, rest, rest.
Hugs, Ruth

Yes, as Ruth has suggested, eat lots of really good stuff to build up your platelets. A couple of things my chemo nurse suggested to me, was pinto beans and sweet potatoes, even baked potatoes. Those help and I ate my share I promise you during my chemo treatments. Now I took a mild form of chemo compared to most, CMF was my thingytail. I hope you can get to where you can have the treatment when you go back. Love, Sherrie
