Hi everyone, I have been a member of FIT for almost 9 years altho I am ashamed to say not always an active one. My breast cancer story started in 2000, when my daughter then 18 kept asking me when I was going to get a mammogram ( I hadn't had one for 5 years) I didn't have any insurance and wasn't making much money at the time so just to shut my daughter up I applied to the women's cancer protection program here in Maryland. then I went and got what I thought was a routine mammogram. it turns out I had a small lump in my right breast. (I've forgotten all the big words they told me. ? lol! I had a lumpectomy and radiation. there were no lymph nodes involved. to this day I thank God for my very persistent daughter.( she hasn't changed any in 9 years!) and for his ever present watch care over me. the one good thing that came out of all of this is that I made some wonderful friends here at FIT. I am now 59 and working. I am a nurse, and I try to give my patients the same care that I was given when I was dealing with the BEAST.
