Personal Story . Hi just a little of my breast cancer history. Oh I am 57 yrs old now. 45 when first dx.
March 1996
Lumpectomy of left breast of 6X2.5 cms
dx of - Atypical ductal hyperplasia
-intra duct carcinoma
-cancerization of lobules (grade 2)
- unclear margins. Pathologist suggested a wider excision. Dr felt it was not necessary at that time.
Feb. 1999
Lumpectomy 7x5x2 cms
dx of - Cribiform ductal carcinoma in situ with comedo-like necrosis
- no clear margins
March 25th 1999
- lumpectomy removed 9x8 cms
- no residual malignancy identified
April 1999
- infection in breast reopened and drained.
- 2 months of home care while it healed from inside out.
June 1999
30 radiation treatments
Oct. 2002
- pain in ribs, testing for mets
Nov. 22,02
- tests back NOD just some arthritis, yah hoo
- so now makes me a 6yr and counting survivor from 1st dx.
Family History of BC
My mom had a mastectomy in 1988 no node involvement.
is doing well today.
At least one cousin has breast cancer and having chemo now.
I have 2 Daughters and 2 granddaughters, and 2 grandsons.
My greatest wish is that the "beast" is tamed before it can move on to the girls in my life!
2003 Had a strange rice like bump on bottom of same breast. Had it taken out proved to be a clogged lymph vessel. No cancer found.
Jan 2004 found several lumps near where they took out the clogged lymph vessel. Also another closer to the breast bone. Dr. did fine needle aspiration of one near breast bone, apparently nothing unusual about it. Guess it was a cyst. Dr said lumps near vessel site felt normal to her.
Having a bit of a hard time dealing with all this coming up over and over. but hanging in there.
Itwill be 13 yrs since the first DX for me in march 2009.
have been very luck
Jan 31st 2011 - found a small lump in the other breast going to see about it tomorrow. Hope it hasnt started up here now.
