Hello Dear Friends, I just posted on General Board, on Jersiana's post. My surgery went well. I had a groin lymph node dissection and removal on May 11th. They made the incision at the top of my thigh and went in that way. Also, did an exploratory surgery using laproscopic method. I have little cuts on my tummy and one big cut on my leg. However, everything is now healing up great!
Cancer cells were in more than one lymph node. I don't know how to explain it, but in the nodes close to my skin, as well as underlying nodes. But it was all the the same area in groin and according to test so far, not anywhere else. Not in bones, not in lungs or brain. Doctor said that is my good news.
Chemo is coming in about a month. I am trying to get myself ready physically and emotionally for that. I know with this type of chemo they hit you hard up front, then taper off. I don't know yet how many treatments or really what to expect. I am resisting checking it out on the web yet.
Thanks for thinking of me and I know you are sincere! I appreciate my good friends here.
Love, Betty

It's so good to hear from you, Betty! At least the cancer is localized in the nodes... You are in my thoughts and prayers every day. I'm praying the chemo. goes gently for you, and gets rid of all of the remaining cells of the beast. Stay strong, and come here and vent any time you need to... Lots of love and hugs, Mary

Betty, I had some free time tonight, trying to get caught up on a few posts. I have had you in my thoughts many times in the last weeks. ALthough we may not write often, we have shared some good emails and I really am sincere when I say "I am praying for you and wishing you a speedy recovery and easy chemo time." I am happy that you got some good news and please keep us updated when you can. Thank you so much for taking time to post. I know it can be difficult but we all care for you. Skeeter

Thank you friends/sisters!
I thought I would start my chemo today, but all we did was talk about side-effects and about the port a cath. I will be getting that put in Wed, then chemo will begin Mon, Jul 6 now. I hope there are no more delays.
It was a weird feeling, sitting in the recliner in the same clinic where I had my breast cancer chemo in 2003. I saw a familiar face, the nurse that gave me my chemo then. She gave me a broad smile and ran over and held my hand for a minute. That was nice! I was surprised she even remembered me.
So next Monday I'll be sitting in that big cushy recliner again. They say this chemo can lead to depression, but I will fight against that, I'll think of my family and all the sweet friends who are pulling for me.
Love, Betty

Thanks everyone for your encouraging words. I hope cancer's butt was kicked out of my life, again! I just finished my 4 weeks of daily chemo and now doing the self-injections 3 times a week. (The needle is tiny). I will have to do that for 11 months. I see some recovery, as the chemo amount is less. I am still tired but feeling a little more strength.
Now I've had chemo twice. Different potions and different reactions. The breast cancer chemo was harder, I think, but I wouldn't want to do this one again either!
Love to all, Betty

Hello Dear Friends,
I am doing fine with the self-injestion chemo that I do 3 times a week. It makes you very tired, but I am managing well. The program is one year! So you will just have to put up with me complaining for another 8 months. Latest problem is my hair is thinning. I didn't ever want to say that again! I know you can all relate.
The weather here is beautiful! The granddaughters were here and we had fun playing games on Barney.com site.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

Betty,
I'm so happy that you checked-in.......It is wonderful hearing from you and hearing that your self-injections are going well...Lord only knows if I could ever manage them........
As for you hair.....I know that this is very traumatic, but IT"LL GROW BACK HUN and probably curlier and thicker than ever...
If there is ANYTHING we can do to help you to keep that lovely attitude of yours, please let us know.....In the meantime, please know that you are never far away from my thoughts and my heart.
Hugs and Love, Ruth
