I am a married 51 yr. old mother of 2. I was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma (stage II, ER/PR+) in 1996, when I was 38. That sure turned our year upside down... I had no family history or risk factors for bc. Once I came to terms with having bc, I learned as much about it as I could. I had a lumpectomy with axillary dissection (2 nodes +), 6 mos. of CAF, 6 weeks of Radiation, 5 1/2yrs of Tamoxifen, and 2 years of Femara. All of my check-ups since have been 'no evidence of disease', for which I am very grateful. I found the lump myself, and it did NOT show up on the mammograms or sonogram. I'm a strong advocate of biopsies for this reason. My faith in God has given me a positive attitude and peace about what I went through, and what may come in the future. I joined FIT to try to help others going through the cancer journey. May God bless each and every member of FIT!
