5 Hi Ladies, thought it was about time I got off my lazy posterior and caught up on all my news. I've had a very busy Summer as I'm sure alot of you have too, judging from the activity here on FIT! First off, instead of posting separate postings for everyone of you, my good friends here, I wish everyone easy treatments, speedy recoveries and all in all good healthy "get-on-with-your-life" days ahead! My last visit to my Onc was June 16th and I discussed with him the really bad days I was having with my pains in my joints. I really believed I was going to have to use a cane to walk before much longer. Well, the "Hero" that he has become to me took a long time and talked to me and we decided that I would have been on Femara 2 years August 15th and on my next visit, which is this Tues 8/25 he's going to switch me over to Tamoxifin (sp?) He says that all the studies have shown that after 2 yrs on Femara you can switch to Tamoxifen and it's the same as staying on Femara. In the mean time to get me feeling better for the two months in between he put me on Prednisone...now those of you who have been on this know that I'm feeling GOOD these days...and I also want to eat the wall paper off my kitchen walls!!!!!!!! I've gained 9 lbs in 2 months but I feel like a newborn with my life given back to me! I guess if he decides to keep me on this I'm going to have to really watch what I put in my mouth...or else just resolve myself to being a happy fat ole' lady! hahaha!! I've had my grand babies here for the Summer...I'm so glad for the Prednisone...we've had a blast...have been to the Beach, have gone boating with my Nephew...been Deep-Sea fishing...went up to Atlanta to the big Aquarium...did alot of Museum visiting and even went horseback riding! We've had a great time, I hated to see them go, but of course they'll be back next summer! I have 2 scans scheduled Monday morning, see my Breast Surgeon Monday afternoon, then visit with my Onc on Tues and get my infusion of Zometa...so will have a busy 2 days there. Will get back with you guys to let you know what happens. Ok ladies, Summer is winding down, we've had our little vacation...now back to catching up with each other here on FIT. I miss hearing from all of you...we need to stay close and keep in touch...Hugs to all, Jane

Hi Jane,
It is great hearing from you.........My goodness you have had a busy summer. Me too. We had our last BIG cookout of the season last Sunday, so things should be slowing down here.
I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better on the Prednisone and know what you mean about the weight gain.....My husband has been on it for a few years now and has gained some weight. Good luck on the Tamoxifen. I was on that for 5 years and my biggest problem with it was the hot flashes and night sweats which I still have...UGH!
It's good seeing you back here pal and I'm looking forward to catching -up with you. Let us know how all of your check-up's go.
Hugs, Ruth

Hi Jane, I'm so glad you got relief from your pain and have been able to have a wonderful summer with your grands. Good luck with your tests and appointments - keep us informed of your results. I am praying that all is well! My youngest started college this summer, and we just got her resettled in her dorm for Fall semester. Hubby and I took a wonderful trip out to the Pacific NW and saw some beautiful sites. I have a few photos posted here on the Photo Bd. Now I am adjusting to an empty nest... the house is so quiet! But she's only 2 1/2 hrs. away, so it's not too bad. She'll be home for Labor Day weekend. Love and hugs, Mary

Hey ladies...Ruth and Mary thanks for the replies...went to see my breast surgeon yesterday, all was looking really good on that front...had bone scans and chest ct scans done yesterday early am...then went to my Onc today. Boy, howdy, whe the Dr is requesting the results of the scans they can sure get them to them fast...he already had them up and ready for me to look at...everytrhing is great had some new bone leisions "trying" to make trouble but he showed me how they were scarring over instead of causing any problems for me...he swears its the Zometa infusions I've taken every two months since I finished Chemo in Aug 07...I really trust this Dr, and so I'm convinced too and will continue with them until he says stop! I am now officially on Tamoxifen and hopefully will do better with my joint pains and we're going to wean me off the Prednisone! I'm so excited...and yes Ruth he did say that the Tamoxifen was known to be much better with the joint pains abut considerably worse on the hot flashes and night sweats...we'll see! All in all I had a really good round of scans and hopefully Fran will read this and let Dian know that there is life after Cancer...I'm feeling so good these days and praise God that He has given me another chance in life. I'm anxiously awaiting Fall, my favorite time of the year...and all the beautiful changes it brings. Mary, how great that you had a chance to travel and see some beautiful places...I've always said I'd like to go to the New England States in the Fall...maybe this will be the year...who knows! I'm glad your "baby" is only a few hours away...it's easier that way...for you!! haha! Love to all and wishes for happy and healthy last days of Summer! Jane
