Greetings!
I've got the warriors on the outside, praying and the soldiers on the inside,
marching through the minefields and taking out the mines! (Honestly, I have lived
with John way too long!!!! Well no not really but, you know what I mean) HEHE
Well, I have been struggling for some time. As you will remember, I got shingles
which resulted in numbness to one half of my face, which resulted in an inability to
clear my sinuses. Well I got a bit of a sinus thing once the numbness came back.
Which thanks to those little soldiers became a huge sinus thing. I had been feeling
worse and worse. No energy, fever, exhausted, no appetite. Even some upset tummy symptoms. I called the clinic, they told me as long as my fever didn't go over
100.4, I was fine. Well it stayed at 99.5. By this past Sunday, I knew something
was seriously wrong. I didn't feel even a little bit well. As soon as I got up, I
wanted to go right back to bed. I informed John that we needed to go to the
doctor's. Off to St. Thomas we went, to the walk in clinic. Sure enough, I have an
acute sinus infection but the bigger concern was my heart rate. The doctor felt it
was most likely that my blood counts were low. He wanted me to go to do bloodwork first thing Monday morning. When I pointed out that the bloodwork would take 2 or 3 days to get back to my FAMILY doctor and that Tuesday I would have bloodwork and results in 1/2 hour, he agreed that I might as well wait until Tuesday. He started me on amoxicillin and sent me home.
We have a blood pressure monitor so I kept an eye on my heart rate all afternoon. I
didn't do much more than lay and read, sleep or watch a movie. My heart rate didn't
go below 90! Normal for me is around 72! Walking to the bathroom (about 10 - 15 feet) would send my heart rate up to 111! Bit scary, that! Anyways, it is better
today. Still faster than normal but not nearly as bad. The meds are working and I
am definitely improving. Chemo was a go and we had some fun between bloodwork and chemo trying on hats and wigs. My neighbour Lori took me and we had fun. Bekah showed up after her drive test (she got her G, YEAH!) Mom and Dad showed up as well and we all had a nice visit.
We went Christmas shopping afterwards and had a lot of fun. The wig I picked up was deemed as "working for me" as I got hit on at the Taco Bell in White Oaks Mall. Bekah and I had a great laugh over that one.
Soooo... one more treatment for this year and then a break. I am hoping that I will
do well next week. I usually feel the worst on days 2 and 3 after, which will be
Christmas and Boxing Day, the best days of the year!
I have a CAT scan scheduled for Jan 7. Bone scan is booked for December 23. I will have to change that. I will try to change my appointments for January back to
Thursdays from Tuesday as I am actually scheduled for Jan 6 for start of round 3 and
I would see the doctor. Really want to get CAT/bone scan results before starting
#3, I want some encouragement which I am believing I will receive. I am pretty sure
those tumours are shrinking!
Please pray for us as a family as Christmas approaches. I am trying to not think
that this could be my last...but it could and I want to make it the best one ever.
May there be lots of joy and very few sad tears. I also wish each and everyone of
you the best and most wonderful Christmas ever! Keep Christ in Christmas, He is thesource of all joy!
And please, live your life like you are dying! Don't ever put off til tomorrow the
joys of today!
Love n hugs,
Babe (Colleen)
